Director Asif Iqbal Jewel finally released his first feature film ‘Chokh’, starring Nirab Hossain, Ziaul Roshan and Shabnam Bubly, in 36 cinema halls across the country on Friday, following postponements in several phases amid the pandemic.
Confirming the news, Roshan told The Business Post, “It feels great that new films are getting theatrical release gradually after a long time due to the pandemic”.
“Chokh’s story is a very different one. I hope the audience will like it,” added the actor.
It will not be possible for Roshan to watch the film in theatre at this moment as he tested positive for Covid-19 on September 30.
“I am keeping my fans updated on my social media page. ‘Chokh’ is my first release in two years,” said the actor who was last seen in Raja Chanda’s ‘Beporowa’ in 2019.
The actor informed that he was resting at home and taking treatment.
Produced by Shapla Media, ‘Chokh’ has Shahiduzzaman Selim, Masum Basher, Tuhin Chowdhury, Romeo and Jahid Islam in various other roles.
The major cast of the film, including director Jewel, took to their social media handles to share a list of the theatres where ‘Chokh’ can be watched.
In Dhaka, the film can be enjoyed in nine cinema halls – Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas, Shyamoli Cinema, Sena Cinema, Ananda Cinema, Geet Cinema, BGB Cinema, Chitra Mahal Cinema and New Gulshan Cinema.
The film’s dialogue and screenplay are written by Anamika Mondal. An official teaser and two songs of the film were earlier released on YouTube.
Makers of ‘Chokh’ earlier expected to release the film during last Eid-ul-Adha but had to postpone amid the situation caused by the pandemic.
The film marks Nirab’s second straight collaboration with Bubly after they teamed up in Saikat Nasir’s thriller ‘Casino’, which is yet to be released.
As for Roshan, the actor was scheduled to take part in the second round of shooting for his second film with Bubly, titled ‘Revenge’, from October 4 which is likely to be postponed, according to the actor.
