Tollywood actress Srabanti Chatterjee will soon be seen with Dhallywood’s Zayed Khan in director-duo Apurba Rana’s upcoming film ‘Jokhom’.
“She has been roped in for the film last month,” Apurba Roy, one of the directors told The Business Post on Saturday.
Srabanti is replacing Apu Biswas in ‘Jokhom’ who was earlier expected to play a lead role in the film to be produced under the banner of Shapla Media International.
Apu Biswas has left the film due to ‘personal reasons’, according to Shapla Media proprietor Selim Khan.
The production house earlier announced to bring onboard another Tollywood actress Rituporna Sengupta, among other cast, which is not confirmed yet due to scheduling complications with her, according to director Apurba. “We are not sure yet whether we can cast Rituporna in ‘Jokhom’. Let’s see,” he said.
The director informed The Business Post that the film will go on the floors on November 15. “It will be shot in Dhaka and its surrounding areas,” he added.
“We are making films and bringing in Kolkata artists as part of a business policy between the two Bengals,” added Apurba Roy, also the head of programmes at Shapla Media.
Srabanti recently acted in Shapla Media’s ‘Bikkhobh’ along with Dhallywood newcomer Shanto Khan. Directed by Shamim Ahmed Roni, the film was cleared by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board (BFCB) in September.
As for Zayed Khan, the actor is currently busy shooting for his another film, ‘Sonar Char’, where she is collaborating with Mousumi, Omar Sani, Shahiduzzaman Selim and Shabnam Parvin, among others. The film is directed by Zahid Hossain and produced by Jahangir Sikder under the banner of Exel Films.
In July, Shapla Media announced the film ‘Jokhom’ on the occasion of launching their over-the-top platform ‘Cinebaz’ at a posh hotel in the capital city.
