Nawshaba featuring ‘Sindur’ to go on air during Durga Puja

Ekushey Television will air a special drama on the occasion of Durga Puja, titled ‘Sindur’, directed by Shourjo Dipto Surjo featuring Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed and Abu Hurayra Tanvir, among others.

The drama was shot on October 2 and 3 at different locations in Dhaka and nearby areas.

Nawshaba is playing the lead character in the drama ‘Sindur’. Regarding the plot of the drama, she told The Business Post, “Sindur (vermilion) is the closest thing to the heart of a Hindu woman. In the drama, I am playing the character named ‘Kajol’ who is an orphan. It depicts the story of Kajol who tries to uphold the dignity of the Sindur at any cost. She gets married to a man whom she doesn’t love. At the end of the drama, there is a twist which will show how much the Sindur means to Kajol and how much she wants to keep it.”

The drama will be aired on Ekushey TV on October 14, on the day of Maha Nabami.

Talking to The Business Post, Nawshaba said that she is focusing on playing versatile characters. She will be seen playing the role of a schoolgirl in the drama ‘Sab Somar Dosh’. Meanwhile, she has completed shooting for a web film where she played the character of an old woman.

“By the grace of the Almighty, I have played different types of character in my career. The directors are encouraging me to do different characters too. I am receiving

positive feedback from the audience as well. As an artiste, I am very grateful that I can experiment with my look. I want to do more versatile characters in the future,” Nawshaba said.

Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed is scheduled to start the shooting of Saikat Nasir’s web film ‘Network’ this month. Recently she has completed the shooting of two upcoming web films titled ‘Dolachal’, ‘Lashkata Ghar’.

Apart from these, her several films including ‘Chandrabati’, ‘Alga Nongor’ and ‘99 Mansion’ and Anonno Mamun’s ‘Amanush’ are awaiting release.
