Dhallywood star Pori Moni is resuming her performance with director Giasuddin Selim’s upcoming web film ‘Gunnin’ after a Dhaka court granted permanent bail to the actress in a narcotics case Sunday.
It will be her first-ever movie shoot in nearly two months following her arrest in the case on August 4.
Talking to The Business Post on Sunday, director Selim said that they were scheduled to start shooting of the web film ‘Gunnin’ in Brahmanbaria today.
“We are now visiting the sites in Brahmanbaria. We will start filming ‘Gunnin’ from Monday,” he said.
Apart from Pori Moni, another lead cast of the film, actor Shariful Razz, is also expected to join the shooting in Brahmanbaria.
“We will continue the shooting for five consecutive days in the first schedule in Brahmanbaria. Then we will go for another location. We have a plan to continue shooting for around 20 straight days,” he said.
The cast of ‘Gunnin’ includes Iresh Zaker, Mostofa Monwar, Azad Abul Kalam, Nayla Azad Nupur, Dilara Zaman and Shilpi Sarker in various other roles.
Pori posted several photos on her verified Facebook page on Saturday where she was seen with Giasuddin Selim and actor Shariful Razz.
Selim roped in Pori Moni to play a lead role named ‘Rabeya’ in ‘Gunnin’ after actress Nusraat Faria scrapped her deal for the same character due to schedule complications.
The director earlier informed The Business Post that the storyline of ‘Gunnin’ is in the backdrop of the 1970s where the character ‘Rabeya’ will depict a conservative Muslim girl with very ordinary looks.
The film earlier faced delay to go on the floors after actor Shariful Razz, along with several of his ‘Networker Baire’ co-artists got injured in a car crash in the capital’s Gulshan Avenue area in August.
Due to the delay in ‘Gunnin’, actress Faria had to leave it for schedule conflicts with her other projects.
‘Gunnin’ is an adaptation of a short story with the same name authored by prominent writer Hasan Azizul Haque. “It is a story of a farmers’ village of the 1970s,” said the Monpura-famed director who also has written the script and dialogue for ‘Gunnin’.
It marks Pori Moni’s first project for which she was signed after she secured bail in the narcotics case on September 1.
According to the director, ‘Gunnin’ will go for an OTT release but it also may get theatrical release before that.
Pori Moni was last seen in actor-director Tauquir Ahmed’s ‘Sphulingo’ released in March this year where she co-stars Zakia Bari Mamo, Shamol Mawla and Rownak Hasan. The actress earlier starred in Giasuddin Selim’s ‘Swapnajaal’ and ‘Preeti’.
