‘Hey Pathor’: Bappa’s new song speaks for humanity

The latest single from singer-composer Bappa Mazumder, released from his record label Bee Emmz Workstation, is all about the realities of major humanitarian crises in general. Titled ‘Hey Pathor’, it’s a song for humanity.

“In this crazy world, we all are going through tremendous geopolitical ups and downs, where political differences and blind religious beliefs are getting prominence and the most precious sense, humanity, is being dragged down. If we all could prioritise humanity, the entire world could be a better place to live in,” thus Bappa describes the theme of ‘Hey Pathor’.

Written by Mohosin Mehedi, the song has its composition, music and voice done by Bappa Mazumder. The music video was directed by Bini Eamine Siam and his team.

Meanwhile, ‘Hey Pathor’ has been garnering a lot of appreciation from the audience for its powerful subject matter, and also for the music video since it landed on YouTube.

Talking to The Business Post on Monday, Bappa Mazumder said, “‘Humanity is above everything’ is the message we have tried to convey in ‘Hey Pathor’. The response is quite good”.

“I usually do few numbers of upbeat songs. It has been an upbeat track after a long time,” he said about the genre of ‘Hey Pathor’.

“We have tried to focus the tragic situation of a person when he falls into the most crucial moment in his life and faces a game revolving around him. It is a song that expresses solidarity with humanity,” he added.

Regarding teaming up with Mohosin Mehedi who penned the song, Bappa said, “He writes wonderfully. And this collaboration has happened all of a sudden.”

“On other night, he sent a lyric to me. I sat for its composition immediately and did it in just some five-seven minutes. Then I shared the scarp with him and asked for his reaction. He just got excited having the first listen to it,” Bappa said.

Talking to The Business Post, lyricist Mehedi said, “For the second time, I have written for Bappa Mazumder and the outcome has been amazing. We are experiencing a very good response from the audience. People are talking about the song on social media”.

“Lyrics of the song speak about various issues people are facing globally. Another point of the song is — people cannot talk about what they tend to say—against injustice, inhumanity and many other wrongdoings that happened to them and the world in various forms. I think the message we tried to convey with this song will reach the global audience that’s why we subtitled it in English in the music video.”

As for Bappa Mazumder, the musician is currently working on a unique project involving a total of nine female singers of contemporary Bangla music. Nine songs of them are being produced by Bappa with his music and composition.

“The songs already have been finished. Now we are planning about what kind of music videos we shall make for the songs. I am expecting to finish two of the videos shortly,” he informed.
