Singers Imran Mahmudul, Somnur Monir Konal, Rehaan Rasul and Abanti Shithi have teamed up in a new song celebrating the ongoing T20 World Cup and also aiming to motivate the Bangladesh squad during the tournament that began in Oman on Sunday.

Titled ‘Fourth Umpire’, the song is written by Shaon Koiri while its music and composition are done by Chirkutt’s Emon Chowdhury.

Talking to The Business Post on Monday, Emon Chowdhury said, “When lyricist Kabir Bakul bhai told me about the song and sent me the lyrics, I immediately agreed to compose the song as cricket has a special place in our heart.”

Asked about the title of the song, ‘Fourth Umpire’, Emon said that the audience will understand it only after listening to the song.

Abanti Shithi told The Business Post, “It was my first time to sing a cricket song. When Kabir Bakul bhai shared with me about the song, I found the theme so wonderful. I have enjoyed it a lot collaborating on it. ”.

Konal said, “Though I have lent voice for many cricket songs before, but ‘Fourth Umpire’ was different. The lyric of the song is so good and inspiring that it will make you move instantly whenever you will hear it”.

“I hope that the song inspires our cricketers. No matter the match result, I am always proud of our team,” she added.

Produced by Prothom Alo, the song ‘Fourth Umpire’ was scheduled to be broadcast on ABC Radio from Monday. The music video will be released on YouTube.
