Methila’s Bollywood debut on Apple TV from Nov 15

Bollywood director Haider Khan’s debut feature film ‘Rohingya’ featuring Miss Universe Bangladesh 2020 Tangia Zaman Methila in a lead role will be streaming on OTT platform Apple TV from November 15.

Haider announced the release date in an Instagram post on Sunday. “The wait is finally over! ‘Rohingya’ releasing on Apple TV Worldwide on November 15th, 2021,” he wrote.

‘Rohingya’ highlights the unspoken story of Rohingya people, who had fled violence in Myanmar and taken shelter in Bangladesh over the past few years, according to a report of Outlook India.

“It’s the first feature film on Rohingya genocide, based on their plight. It will throw light on the subject and will also tell the story about the unsung Para (Special Forces),” said the director.

“The film was shot with complete natural light, and actors sported deglamourised look. I wanted to bring realism and feel their pain. My actors were extremely supportive,” added Haider, who had worked on a song in ‘Notebook’.

‘Rohingya’ stars ‘Radhe’ actor Sangay Tsheltrim, winner of Mr Bhutan 2017, alongside model-actress Tangia Zaman Methila. In the film, Methila will be seen playing the role of a Rohingya girl named Husne Ara, also a genocide survivor.

Mostly shot in Bhutan and North East India, the film is produced by Thunder Dragon Productions of Bhutan. Haider has also written the story and screenplay of the film.

Haider has previously directed promos for Salman Khan Films as well as several ad films and videos.
