Young director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s first feature film, titled ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ (The Salt in Our Waters), will be released in theatres on November 26.
The announcement came in a press conference held at Dhaka Club on Saturday morning.
Speaking about the film, director Sumit said that the film highlights the daily life of the fishermen in the country’s coastal areas and their struggle to survive in the face of adverse weather. The focus of the film is the social life and crisis of the fisherman.
Actor Fazlur Rahman Babu said, “I have played the role of chairman in this film. The character was quite charismatic. I would like to request the cine lovers to go and watch it in theatres.”
The film ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ has garnered praise from the audiences and critics at several international film festivals in London, Busan, Gutenberg, Sao Paulo, Turin, Seattle and Singapore. This time it is going to the UN climate conference COP26. The film will be screened at the IMAX Theater on November 8 at an important event scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland. In addition, ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ will be screened on October 29 at the UN COY16 (UN Climate Change Conference of Youth) in the same city.
“Still waters run deep in Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s thoughtful debut. This story of an educated artist who travels to rural Bangladesh in search of inspiration is concerned with weighty issues of climate change, politics and religion, but wears them lightly enough to never become didactic,” as reviewed by reputed movie news website Screen Rant.
The music of the film is done by Shayan Chowdhury Arnob.
‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ stars actors Fazlur Rahman Babu, Tasnova Tamanna Mrittika Maya and Shatabdi Wadud, among others.
