Tribute to Bangabandhu in one song in 130 languages

A new song with identical words and melody paying tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be rendered by 130 singers in 130 languages from around the world.

The yet-to-be-titled song is written by Touhidul Islam and jointly composed by Richil Jadu and Syed Sujan. It will be sung separately by 130 international musicians from various countries, said a press release.

The video of the song will be made separately with the singers. Meanwhile, six artistes from six South Asian countries — Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Indonesia and Afghanistan have lent their voice to the song.

Music composer Sujan said that there is a possibility of having more than one artist from India. He added that there will be detailed arrangements with Bangladeshi and Indian artistes for the song.

In the meantime, top musicians like Pedro Eustace, Anushka Shankar, Croatian cellist duo 2 Cellos, Grammy-nominated drummer Aric Improta and Violin Brothers have been contacted to play instruments in the song.

In Bangladesh, this is the first time a song is being translated into so many languages with so many artistes.

Composer Sujan said that the initiative has been taken in an attempt to spread the teachings and ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman across the world through songs.

The song is expected to be released worldwide next year. Before that, an inaugural event will take place this year, he informed.
