5th Hill Film Fest begins in Rangamati

The fifth edition of Hill Film Festival began in Rangamati on Thursday which will continue until November 6.

The three-day festival is taking place at the Khudro Nrigosthir Sangskritik Institute in Rangamati town.

At the festival, films are being under seven categories — Hill Classic, Feature Fiction, Retrospective, Special Screening, Documentary Competition Short Film Competition, and Foreign Selection.

On Thursday, a documentary titled ‘Felim-Cinema for Identity’ by Adit Dewan and Turin Tanchangya, ‘Stranger’s Question’ by Santua Tripura, and Khumi I Awmnai Rita by Shuvashish Chakma had special screening at the festival. ‘A Monk’s Life’ by Sing Mong Prue Marma, ‘Illusion of Passer By’ by Abu Oalid Siddique, ‘Writer’ by Abinash Samundha and ‘Dulu Kumori’ by Tarun Chakma were screened for documentary competition while ‘Takridi’ by Sajib Tripura was screened under the Feature Fiction category.

‘Matir Projar Deshe’ by Bijon Imtiaz will be screened under special screening category today. ‘Muddy Water Game’ by Nantu Chakma, ‘Green Slave’ by Kamruzzaman, ‘Gomeera’ by Deepak Roy will be screened under Documentary Competition while ‘Since Forever’ by Nisam Asaf from India will be screened under Foreign Selection category and ‘Alice in the Cities’ by Wim Wenders from Germany under Retrospective category.

On the concluding day tomorrow, ‘From Morn to Midnight’ by Karlheinz Martin will be screened under Retrospective category while ‘A Tale of a Hilly Girl’ by Sing Mong Prue Marma, ‘Batasher Chaya’ by Fahad Kabir, ‘Behind the Mask’ by Pragya Ahmed Jyoti, ‘Tenor’ by Rahi Abdullah, ‘Mon Aronnye’ by Faisal Mizan, ‘Nu leh Pa thu simh ngai lo Zabui lam thlang aril’ by S Patung Bawn and ‘The Home in Sound’ by Fuaduzzaman Fuad will be screened under Short Film Competition.

‘Andolot Pahar’ directed Foyaz Zahir, said to be the first Chakma film made in Chattogram Hill Tracts will be screened under Hill Classic category.

Winners of the Best Documentary, Best Short and Special Jury will be announced on the same day.

The first edition of the Hill Film Festival was held in 2014.
