Dhallywood actress Mahiya Mahi has reunited with director Iftakhar Chowdhury for his debut web film, titled ‘Driver’, where she will be seen portraying the role of a film star. Actors Mosharraf Karim and Aman Reza are co-starring her in it.
The shooting of the web film has already started from November 2 in Manikganj, director Iftakhar confirmed The Business Post on Tuesday.
“We have plans to shoot the film in various other locations including the capital’s Uttara. Hopefully, we will complete the shoot by December,” he said.
Mahiya Mahi previously worked with the filmmaker on two hit films, ‘Agni’ and ‘Agni 2’.
Regarding the casting in ‘Driver’, Iftakhar said, “I had plans to work with Mosharraf Karim in 2015, but for some reason, I couldn’t work with him. After 6 years, I am working with him on my web film and it is a great experience. He is a fantastic actor and a lovely human being. And Mahiya Mahi has changed as an actor. She is completely different now. She has grown into a better actor in the recetn days. Overall, it is a great experience to work as a team with them.”
The web film ‘Driver’ is a revenge thriller. The whole story revolves around Mosharraf Karim who is playing the role of a driver in the web-film. On the other hand, Mahiya Mahi is playing the role of a film star named Shehnaz who rides Mosharraf Karim’s car. Aman Reza is playing a negative role who will be romantically involved with Mahi.
Iftakhar said, “The story is different and exciting. It is about Mosharraf Karim. He is playing the character of a driver. Mahi is playing the role of the passenger. But is Mosharraf a driver or someone else? Does he have any other intention? Does Mahi have any other intention? All these will be revealed in this film. I can say for now that every character of this film is very unique and exciting.”
“This is my debut web-film. You all know that I always did big-budget commercial films. But one of my close brothers said to me that the exposure of the OTT platforms is getting bigger than the theatres. As a filmmaker, I always want exposure for my films. And the story was good. So, I think the audience will love this web film,” he added.
The film is slated to release on live streaming app Bioscope in December.
