Anupam, Piya announce separation

West Bengal’s musician Anupam Roy and Piya Chakraborty have ended their marriage after six years. The couple announced their separation on their social.

Both Anupam and Piya posted a joint statement on their social where they cited ‘personal differences’ for the cause of their separation.

“We, Anupam and Piya, have mutually decided to conclude our marital relationship and pursue our own independent trajectories as friends,” they said in the joint statement.

“Our journey together was a beautiful one, full of experiences and happy memories. However, due to personal differences we think it is best to part ways as husband and wife. We will continue to be close friends that we have always been and remain deeply invested in each other’s well-being.”

“We are grateful to all friends, family, and well-wishers who have supported us at each step so far. We request for your continued empathy and understanding to help us make this transition with privacy and dignity,” read the statement.

Anupam and Piya were in a relationship for a long time before they tied the knot in 2015. They have been actively working for Covid-19 relief since last year joining hands with industry friends, according to Indian media.

Anupam made his debut in signing with the songs ‘Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao’ and ‘Benche Thakar Gaan’ which were featured in director Srijit Mukherji’s debut film ‘Autograph’ in 2010. Apart from doing music for films, Anupam Roy has also released four solo albums.
