After a long break centring the Covid-induced series of lockdowns that deprived the youngsters of the joy and excitements of rock concerts, Brandmyth Communication brought the winter concert in Dhaka named ‘November Rain’ featuring the rock icon, James with seven other prominent bands on Friday night.

The concert was held at International Convention City Bashundhara’s hall-4 named ‘Noboratri.

Though the gates opened at 3:00pm, the crowd started to gather inside the venue from 2:00pm.

The rock concert featured some of the finest rock bands including Cryptic Fate, Vikings, Black, Plasmic Knock, Savagery, Fuge, Artcell and Nagarbaul.

With this concert, Nagarbaul returned to the stage after a long one year break and it also brought the ‘ABC’ Generation, as fans call the band trio — Artcell, Black and Cryptic Fate, on the same stage.

The concert started with performances by emerging rock bands Fuse, Plasmic Knock and Savagery, followed by Vikings who sang most of their popular songs including ‘Opekkha’.

Then came the band Black with their fierce performance. Not only they performed their popular songs, but they also surprised the audience by bringing Arafat Kazi and Tashfee on the stage. They performed the songs ‘Porahoto’ and ‘Ondho’ together.

Tashfee first gained attention as a choir manager on Gaan Bangla TV’s music programme ‘Wind of Change’, and subsequently went on to establish herself as a talented young vocalist through many shows and concerts.

Black ended their performance with one of their hit songs ‘Blues and Rod’ in which Artcell’s lead guitarist Kazi Faisal Ahmed has played the guitar.

When the audience was already vibing with the atmosphere, Cryptic Fate came to rock the stage. They performed the songs like ‘Bhoboghure’, ‘Amar Sathe Aay’, ‘Akromon’, ‘Protibad’ and their mainstream hit ‘Cholo Bangladesh’. Their performance was followed by ‘Artcell’ and ‘Nagarbaul’.

Though Artcell has performed at the same venue a month ago at the ‘Coffee Carnival’, the lead vocalist of the band, Lincoln rocked the crowd with their hit songs ‘Dukkho Bilash’, ‘Aniket Prantor’’ Chilekothar Sepai’ and ‘Utshober Utshahe’.

After the performances by the popular bands, when the volunteers and organisers couldn’t hold the audience, the rock legend James with his band Nagarbaul stepped onto the set. The crowd went eccentric the moment they saw James on the stage. The organisers found it hard to control the crowd.

James started with the song ‘Lace Fita Lace’ and went on to mesmerise the audience with his iconic songs like ‘Dukhini Dukkho Korona’, ‘Ghor Banaila Ki Diya’, ‘Diwana Mastana’, ‘Pagla Hawa’, ‘Sultana Bibiyana’ and ‘Dushtu Cheler Dol’. The audience went crazy when James started singing ‘Ghor Banaila Ki Diya’. The audience started headbanging with the song and also sang along with the veteran rockstar.

The magic moment arrived when James sang the song ‘Taray Taray Rotiye Debo’. The crowd was captivated by the charm of the iconic song and the couples held each other and sang along with James. He ended the song by saying ‘Ami Tomaderi Lok’ and gave a flying kiss to the audience.

The magic of James ended with his Hindi language song ‘Bheegi Bheegi’. James and Nagarbaul did justice to every song, bringing back the old magic and the nostalgia, leaving the stage in a state of awe and ecstasy.

The concert was presented by Fogg and powered by Foodpanda.
