Noted personalities mostly from the country’s arts and cultural arena, who lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic, were paid rich tributes at a programme held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
The programme titled ‘Sarone Shraddhargha’ took place on the BSA premises at 5;00pm.
Bangiya Sahitya Sangskriti Samsad, a platform of literary arts, organised the programme in cooperation with Shilpakala.
Rich tributes were paid to the fond memories of National Prof Dr Anisuzzaman, Bir Uttam Chitta Ranjan Dutta (CR Dutta), legendary Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee, Father Richard William Timm, Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Aly Zaker, Kamal Lohani and Buddhadeb Guha.
Folklorist and Bangla Academy former Chairman Shamsuzzaman Khan, actress Sarah Begum Kabori, poet Shankha Ghosh, Abu Osman Chowdhury, Borhan Uddin Khan Jahangir, Indra Mohan Rajbangshi, Andrew Kishore, Fakir Alamgir, Rabeya Khatun, actor Enamul Haque, Syed Abdul Maksud, Azad Rahman, Atiqullah Khan Masud, Murtaza Bashir, Afsar Ahmed, Mahmud Sajjad, Alok Ranjan Dashgupta, Sufia Ahmed, Debesh Roy, Habibullah Siraji, Mita Huq, ATM Shamsuzzaman, Rahat Khan, Abul Hasnat, Ayub Bachchu and
Mannan Hira were also remembered for their contribution in their respective fields.
They died on separate dates during the pandemic that hit the country in early 2020.
Noted theatre personalities Ataur Rahman, Ramendu Majumder, Asaduzzaman Noor, Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, M Hamid, Liakat Ali Lucky and Sara Zaker took part in the programme ‘Sarone Shraddhargha’ presided over by Golam Quddus and directed by Kamrul Islam.
