Indian Bengali singer Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury has lent her voice for a playback song in the Bangladeshi film ‘Kagoj, The Paper’ featuring Mamnun Emon and Airin Sultana in the lead role.

The song has been recorded at a studio in Kolkata recently.

The director of this film, Zulfikar Zahedi has shared a photo with Somlata on his Facebook account and wrote, “Another name has been written on ‘Kagoj’.”

The song is titled ‘Jiboner Protita Shomoy, Tomake Niyei Vabna Chilo’. Penned by Zulfikar Zahedi, the song is composed by Abhijit Sarkar while Abhishek Banerjee has arranged the music.

Somlata is excited to sing in Bangladeshi films again. “The lyrics of the song is very melodic. Zulfikar Zahedi wrote it beautifully. I am happy to lend my voice to his film. I have done playbacks in Bangladeshi films before. Hopefully, this will continue in the upcoming days,” she said in a media release.

She earlier sang in several Bangladeshi films like ‘Unoponchash Batash’, ‘Dhaka Attack’ and ‘Payer Chhap’.

Somlata has done playbacks in films like ‘Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona’, ‘Belasheshe’ and ‘Elar Char Oddhay’ in Kolkata. Especially the song ‘Tumi Ashbey Bole’ in the film ‘Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona’, has made her popular among the audience.

The film ‘Kagoj’ is about the journey of a writer and his decaying philosophy. Zahedi himself has written its script. The shooting was wrapped up recently.

Along with Emon and Airin, the film also stars Maimuna Momo, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Elina Shammi, Reya Barmon and Ashraf Kabir among many others.
