National Film Award winning actress Rokeya Prachy have shoot for government grants winning film ‘Savitri’ directed by Pantha Prasad, ending her hiatus from acting for nearly three years.
In the film, she will be seen making a guest appearance by playing a prosecutor at a war crimes court, as shared by Pantha with The Business Post on Monday.
The film ‘Savitri’ went on filming in 2019 and wrapped up this year in Dhaka. It was mostly shot in various locations of Sreemangal and Shamsernagar of Maulvibazar, Hakaluki Haor and Dhaka.
‘Savitri’, along with 11 other projects received government grants for the fiscal year 2015-16.
“In the storyline, ‘Savitri’ deals with subjects like the 1971 Liberation War, story of a tea garden and a Birangana (war heroine) and the war crimes trial, in context of the Liberation War and the current time as well,” director Pantha said.
The film stars Rokeya Prachy, Ananta Hira, Baishakhi Ghosh, Nargis Akter, Saikat Siddiqui and many others. Of them, Baishakhi and Nargis will be seen playing the Birangana’s role in her early life and old age respectively.
“Post-production works of the film will come to an end very soon. Sujon Mahmud is editing the film and Kolkata’s Satyaki Banerjee has done its music,” informed the director.
‘Savitri’ is expected to release on the occasion of Independence Day next year, he said.
Rokeya Prachy was last seen in a single-episode TV play nearly three years ago. She last directed the TV play ‘Juddo O Birangana’.
