Nirab, Mithila starrer ‘Omanush’ cleared for release

Director Anonno Mamun’s upcoming film ‘Omanush’ starring Nirab Hossain and Rafiath Rashid Mithila has been cleared by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. The certificate was issued on Thursday. The film will mark the cinematic debut for actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila.

Actor Nirab, who is a longtime friend of Mithila in real life, told The Business Post, “We feel good that we are appearing together. Thanks to director Anonno Mamun, we have done the film taking onboard Mithila after planning the project within a short time. The film was shot in a span of 23 days and has finally received clearance. We are very happy.”

“It’s good news for the industry that such a big-budget film with an ensemble cast was completed wonderfully and finally got the censor certificate. At the same time, it’s good news for the audience who are deprived of watching a good film in theatre for around one and half years for the pandemic,” he added.

“We will start the promotional campaign ahead of the release in a certain period and with a detailed plan,” said the actor.

“Each of us will appear in very different looks in ‘Omanush’. I think the audience will love the film because they usually watch very furnished films whereas ‘Omanush’ has been something very different depicting the cruelty in human nature. We had to work very hard to shoot the film in deep forests in straight 23 days. We could take some rest during the nighttime,” he said further.

In the film, Nirab will be seen playing the role of a robber while Mithila a Bangladeshi woman who has returned from abroad and falls victim to a robbery while working on a documentary.

“Mithila and I have been good friends in real life for the past 15 years. We did two TV commercials together many years ago and finally, we made it to ‘Omanush,” Nirab shared with The Business Post.

Along with Nirab and Mithila, ‘Omanush’ features Misha Sawdagor, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, Shahed Ali Sujan, Rashed Mamun Apu and Ananda Khaled, among others.

The film is expected to release in theatres by the end of December. After that, it may go for a release on a streaming platform as well.

Nirab, who has recently sustained injuries while shooting for Saif Chandan directed film ‘Koyla’ in Sylhet, informed that he is having a rest for around two weeks as per his physician’s advice.

He will take part in the action sequences of the film co-starring Shabnam Bubly once he heals the wound.
