‘Kamanna Tragedy’ staged in Jhenaidah

‘Kamanna Tragedy’, a drama based on the 1971 Liberation War with the setting in Jhenaidah, was staged in the martyred intellectual memorials in Sailkupa of Jhenaidah on Saturday, as part of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s special initiative ‘Ganahattar Poribesh Theatre’.

The drama was performed by Repertory Theatre Troupe, Jhenaidah.

‘Kamanna Tragedy’ is written by Prashanta Halder. Tanvir Nahid Khan was in planning and direction while Naved Rahman acted as assistant director and dramaturge. Jhenaidah Shilpalkala Academy organised the staging on Saturday evening.

On the occasion, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid spoke as the chief guest in an online event presided over by Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Mozibor Rahman.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) Director General Liakat Ali Lucky, Jhenaidah-1 MP Md Abdul Hai and Superintendent of Police Muntasirul Islam, among others, also addressed the event.

BSA is staging special dramas under the title ‘Ganahattar Poribesh Theatre’ in the 65 martyred intellectual memorials in 64 districts across the country commemorating the 50 years of independence of Bangladesh.
