‘Moddho Raat Er Molehead’ staged in Chandpur

‘Moddho Raat Er Molhead’, a drama based on the 1971 Liberation War, was staged in Chandpur on Tuesday, as part of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s special initiative ‘Ganahattar Poribesh Theatre’ marking the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh.

Under the direction of Sharif Chowdhury, the drama was performed by Repertory Theatre Troupe, Chandpur, at the Molhead – the confluence where rivers Padma, Meghna and Dakatia meet in the district.

Co-written by Soumya Salek and Pijush Kanti Barua, the drama sheds lights on the gruesome torture and killings of thousands of people in Chandpur and its neighbouring districts, by the Pakistani military and their local collaborators during the Liberation War.

BSA is staging special dramas under the initiative ‘Ganahattar Poribesh Theatre’, planned by its Director General Liakat Ali Lucky, in 64 districts across the country marking the 50 years of independence of Bangladesh.
