The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will stage its original production, a drama titled ‘Janak Er Ananta Jatra’, today paying tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as part of its programmes to celebrate his birth centenary.
The drama will be staged at the academy’s National Theatre Hall at 6:30pm. It will be staged at the same time tomorrow at the same venue, said a press release.
As the title suggests, the plot of the play ‘Janak Er Anata Jatra’ revolves around a set of events involving the burial of Bangabandhu when his body was taken to Tungipara following his assassination on the night of August 15, 1975.
Written and directed by Masum Reza, the drama has an ensemble of performers that includes Azizul Hakim, Munira Yousuf Memi, Kamal Bayezid, Sayem Samad, Shamchi Ara Sayeka, Ramij Raju.
BSA Director General Liakat Ali Lucky is the production advisor of ‘Janak Er Ananta Jatra’ while Afsana Karim is the production supervisor and Ali Ahmed Mukul is the executive for production, creation and staging of the play.
At the academy’s National Theatre Hall, an 11-day drama festival by the Theatre troupe Mahakal Natya Sampradaya, titled ‘‘Bangabandhu O Swadhinata Natyotsab’, began on Saturday, celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh.
