Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan, who is currently in the US, said that those who are making their efforts to reach Bangladeshi films to the global stage should support each other.

The actor also called on Bangladeshi expatriates in the US to watch the highly-anticipated cop action thriller starring Arifin Shuvoo, Jannatul Ferdous Oishee and Taskeen Rahman which is currently running in theatres.

“The movie ‘Mission Extreme’ is running in New York. I am inviting everyone to watch it. Because I always want that we should support each other who are trying to take Bangladeshi film works to the global stage. We wish them good luck always,” Shakib Khan said at the 19th Dhallywood Film and Music Awards in New York on Sunday.

“We are going to make a film here. We have a detailed plan. We hope that we will celebrate the upcoming Eid here with the release of the film during the festival,” he said.

“An award ceremony on Bangla cinema continues here for 19 years. It is certainly great for everyone – for the filmmakers and all the people of Bangladesh,” he added.

Co-directed by Sunny Sanwar and Faisal Ahmed, ‘Mission Extreme’ was released theatrically in Bangladesh, the US, Australia and several other countries on December 3, following delays for around one and a half years for the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the makers of the cop action thriller, ‘Mission Extreme’ can be watched in 16 theatres in the US. In New York, the film can be enjoyed at Jamaica Multiplex Cinemas, Regal Walden Galleria RDX and Regal UA Court Street RPX.

The story and script of the film were written by Sunny Sanwar.

The ensemble cast of the film also includes Raisul Islam Asad, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shatabdi Wadud, Maznun Mizan, Iresh Zaker, Monoj Pramanik, Aref Syed, Sudip Biswas Dwip, Rashed Mamun Apu, Ehsanul Rahman and Dipu Imam.

As for Shakib Khan, the actor left Dhaka for the US on November 11 after wrapping up the shooting of SA Haque Directorial ‘Galui’ co-starring Puja Cherry.

In the US, he took part in 16th Oikko Channel i Music Awards on November 14 and Dhallywood Film and Music Awards on December 4.

At the Oikko Channel i Music Awards in New York, Shakib announced a new film to be directed by Himel Ashraf starring him. The film is yet to be titled.

“We have planned a high-profile film in coordination with local and foreign crews before. If Covid had not come, the film would have been already completed and even released. I have always wanted my film; Bangladeshi film reaches the last corner of the world. I am working with this aim and the day is not far away,” he told the event.

Shakib was last seen in Anonno Mamun directorial ‘Nabab LLB’ co-starring Mahiya Mahi and Orchita Sporshia amid the pandemic last year.
