Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana join Vicky Kaushal in ‘Sam Bahadur’

The upcoming biopic of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw has got new additions to the cast. The film will now also star Dangal actors Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh, as Sam’s wife and former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, respectively, reports NDTV.

The film is based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw widely known as Sam Manekshaw and Sam Bahadur. Vicky Kaushal will be essaying the titular role. The announcement was made coinciding with director Meghna Gulzar’s birthday. Sharing the news, lead actor Vicky Kaushal posted a picture and wrote, “It’s a very special day for us as we celebrate our director Meghna Gulzar’s birthday and welcome the leading ladies Sanya Malhotra as Silloo Manekshaw and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Smt. Indira Gandhi to the Sam Bahadur family!”

In the image, Vicky Kaushal is seen with director Meghna Gulzar and the two leading ladies sitting beside him. The same post was also shared by the production house RSVP Movies.

Sharing the same picture, Sanya Malhotra wrote, “Behind every successful man is a strong independent woman who supports him in all his endeavours. It’s with great honour that I get to play one such woman, Silloo Manekshaw, the wife of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Cannot wait to begin this journey with Meghna ma’am, Vicky, Fatima and RSVP movies!”

The title of the much-awaited movie was announced as Sam Bahadur in April this year on the Field Marshal’s birth anniversary.
