TM Records pledges high-quality Bengali music

A new record label named TM Records has started its journey with an aim to produce high-quality music and spread Bengali songs across the world.

The record label initiated by Farzana Munny, chairperson of Gaan Bangla TV and her husband, musician Kaushik Hossain Taposh, also managing director of the TV channel, was launched at an event held at the Star Cineplex branch of SKS Tower in the capital’s Mohakhali on December 12.

More than one hundred singers attended the programme where the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Bikram Doraiswami launched the label.

“I wish TM music will create tremendous music. I believe that TM Records will work with its magic to present Bengali music to the world in a unique way,” Doraiswami said in his speech.

TM Records Chairperson Farzana Munny said, “The entire world has come a long way now. We don’t want to lag behind. The way the world music industry is running, the changes that are coming and we want such changes in Bengali songs too.”

“Our musical programme ‘Wind of Change’ (aired on Gaan Bangla) has set an example for Bengali songs across the world. The way our young generation is liking songs of other languages, we too want our Bengali songs be heard by people all over the world,” she said.

“Now it’s time for us to move forward. TM Records has started its journey with the aim to spread Bengali music through melodies and music video presentations,” Munny added.

At the inaugural event, Kaushik Hossain Taposh said, “We want to create an example or benchmark from TM Records for the audio-visuals of Bangla songs. In the beginning, we are focusing on people having talent and quality, we want to showcase their talent to the world.

“Besides, we want to move forward with the talented artists who have contributed to the development of the music industry in Bangladesh in the past 50 years,” he added.

TM Records aspires to produce quality music in collaboration with the talented artistes of the country. It has prepared more than fifty songs in collaboration with various artistes and with the use of global standard instruments. Music video production for the upcoming songs, teaming up with many artists from Bangladesh and beyond, has been started as well.

At the inauguration ceremony, four high-quality music videos produced by TM Records were screened as a treat for the guests.

TM Records is expected to release the new songs from this month.
