Pori replaces Mahi in ‘Kagojer Bou’

Actress Pori Moni has come onboard director Chayanika Chowdhury’s upcoming web film ‘Kagojer Bou’ following Mahiya Mahi’s exit from the project around one and a half months after she had agreed to play a lead role in it.

Director Chayanaika made the announcement on social media on Saturday.

“Lots of gratitude and thanks, Pori Moni. Luck is a factor, indeed. Please pray for ‘Kagojer Bou’,” she wrote in a Facebook post sharing a few photos where actors Mamnun Emon and DA Tayeb, other cast of the film, were seen with Pori Moni.

Mahiya Mahi, who was signed for the project on November 2, announced on social media on December 16 that it won’t be possible for her to do ‘Kagojer Bou’ “because of illness”.

Produced under the banner of SG Production, ‘Kagojer Bou’ marks the second collaboration between director Chayanika and Pori Moni after ‘Bishwoshundori’ co-starring Siam Ahmed that marked Chayanika’s directorial debut on the silver screen im 2020.

The director is scheduled to go on filming another web film titled ‘Antorale’ starring Pori Moni along with Mahfuz Ahmed and Tariq Anam Khan in January next year.

An initial poster of ‘Kagojer Bou’, which was initially named as ‘Ohongkari Bou’, was shared by the director on social media as she started filming it from Friday.

For Emon, ‘Kagojer Bou’ marks his first web film under the direction of Chayanika who earlier directed him on several small-screen productions including the Tagore drama ‘Dui Bon’, the very first single-episode TV play in his acting career.

“For the first time, I am collaborating with Chayanika Chowdhury for a film. I was impressed by the story and I liked my character very much,” Emon told The Business Post earlier.

“Chayanika Chowdhury already has given a hit film titled ‘Bishwoshundari’. It feels great that she has thought about me for her next film. From my side, it will obviously a reunion with her. On the other side, it has Mahiya Mahi with whom I really enjoy collaborating,” he added.

Chayanika said, “In the story, there will be a surprise in the character of Emon for which the audience will have to wait till the end”.

As the title suggests, the story of the film ‘Ohongkari Bou’ falls into the genre of family drama.

However, ‘Kagojer Bou’ is a ready project where Chayanika Chowdhury is working as a paid director, she informed The Business Post before.
