Thousands of music fans in the port city of Chattogram on Friday evening swarmed into the highly-anticipated ‘Bijoy Concert’, joined by the country’s high-profile bands like Warfaze, Aurthohin, Souls and many other musicians, as part of the celebrations marking the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh and the 50th Victory Day.

The ‘Bijoy concert’, jointly organised by Chittagong District Administration and Chittagong District Sports Association, took place at the MA Aziz Stadium from 3:00pm to 11:00pm.

Artcell, Shironamhin, AvoidRafa, Vikings, Arbovirus and Teerondaz were among the all-star line-up of the concert which drew in as many as 15,000 music enthusiasts to share the joy of Victory Day.

Audiences from all walks of life enjoyed headbangs and waved their hands in the concert.

The ‘Bijoy Concert’ witnessed a stellar performance by ‘Bass Baba’ Sumon along with his band Aurthohin amidst such a huge crowd after nearly four years following his hiatus from music for illness.

“Most of the people assumed that Aurthohin won’t come back like before. But you all never lost hope in us. We were also in the dilemma if we can come back or not.

Our fans are our main inspiration for coming back again on the stage. The love you all showered upon us, we can never repay it. We can’t describe how lucky we are feeling. We will not ever be able tpo describe it in words. You believed in Aurthohin,” Sumon told the crowd.

The Aurthohin frontman went on saying, “We know how the love for Aurthohin started and we know that this love will never end. We have this confidence in you. Aurthohin came back just for you guys. As long as you want us to stay, we will sing until our last breath.”

Aurthohin performed their hit songs including ‘Chaitei Paro’, ‘Odbhut Shei Chheleti’ and ‘Epitaph’.

‘Keno Ei Nishshongota’ by prominent band Souls and ‘Chilekothar Sepai’ by Artcell were among many other songs performed by the respective bands at the concert.

As the number of the crowd grew throughout the evening, their cheering voice often drowned the music over the sound systems. The crowd at the concert was so intense that the security cordon around the stadium was reportedly broken as shown in the pictures and videos that surfaced on social media.

The audience started entering the stadium in a hurry around 5:30pm. At one point, they broke through the entrance in front of the gallery, entered the ground and gathered to enjoy the on-stage performances by their favourite musicians after so many days.

Chattogram has witnessed the joy of the music lovers with the ‘Bijoy Concert’ after a break from such events for nearly two years after the pandemic began.
