Actress Ashna Habib Bhabna is co-starring with Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed, for the first time, in the upcoming film ‘Dampara’ directed by Shuddhoman Chaitan.
The shooting of the film is expected to begin on December 23.
‘Dampara’ marks the third silver screen project for actress Bhabna, who is experiencing a good response for her performance in Nurul Alam Atique directed film ‘Lal Moroger Jhuti’.
Bhabna made the announcement of the upcoming film on social media. “My third film will be ‘Dampara’. Keep me in your prayers,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The story and screenplay of the film are written by Anan Zaman and produced by Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
Based on true events, ‘Dampara’ will depict the heroic role of superintendent of police Shamsul Haque and other officers of Dampara Police Lines in Chattogram during the Liberation War.
Ferdous will play the role of Shamsul Haque while Bhabna will be in the role of his wife Mahmuda Haque. In the meantime, Ferdous and Bhabna have started preparing for their characters.
During the war, the first target of the Pakistani military in Chattogram was to kill Shamsul Haque because he was the first person in Chattogram Police to put up massive resistance against them. He was picked up from a relative’s house and brutally killed.
‘Dampara’ will depict the tale of the widow Mahmuda Chowdhury who never wore shoes after her husband was killed because she thought that his grave can be anywhere in Bangladesh, as shared by the makers of the film.
Along with Ferdous and Bhabna, the film has Shatabdi Wadud, Jhuna Chowdhury, Ananta Hira, Maznun Mizan and Muntaha, among others.
Bhabna started her acting career with the drama titled ‘First Date’ directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. Later she stepped onto the silver screen in 2017 with the movie ‘Bhayangkar Sundar’ directed by Animesh Aich. Her portrayal of the character Poddo in the film ‘Lal Moroger Jhuti’, which is currently running in theatres, has garnered a lot of appreciation from the viewers.
