20th CJFB Performance Awards winners announced

Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Rafiqul Alam has been awarded ‘TM Records-CJFB Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his contribution in music, and special honour went to Gaanbangla TV’s music show ‘Wind of Change’ at the 20th CJFB Performance Awards ceremony on Friday.

The names of winners – for their exceptional performance in 2020 – were announced in a grand ceremony at the Hall of Fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital.

There were 20 categories ranging from Best Actor to Best Rising Actor, including two special awards and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Honorable Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Special guests were State Minister for Culture KM Khalid, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki and Chairperson of Gaan Bangla TV Farzana Munni and CEO of Gaan Bangla TV Kaushik Hossain Taposh.

Besides these guests, CJFB Chief Adviser Enam Sarkar, President Tamim Hasan and General Secretary Khaled Ahmed spoke on the occasion.

The winners of Film, Music and TV categories are determined by the CJFB membership and survey. As always, this year’s CJFB Performance Awards ceremony was packed with music, television and film celebrities.

Actresses Bidya Sinha Mim, Nusraat Faria, Shabnam Bubly, TV star Mehazabien Chowdhury, singers Hamin Ahmed, Balam, Arfin Rumey, Zinia Zafrin Luipa, Dola, Fatima Tuz Zahra Oyshee, Tasnim Anika and other stars entertained the audience with their mesmerising performances during the awards ceremony.

In the Film Category, Shakib Khan and Bubly won the award for Best actor (Male and Female) for the films ‘Shahehshah’ and ‘Bir’ respectively. The Best Movie title went to the film ‘Bir’ directed by Kazi Hayat.

The Best Television Actor (Male and Female) went to Afran Nisho and Mehazabien Chowdhury for their performances in the dramas ‘Gojodontini’ and ‘Photoframe’ respectively.

Emerging actors Ziaul Haque Polash and Sanjana Sarkar Riya won the award for Best Television rising star (Male and Female) for the dramas ‘Family Crisis’ and ‘Bachelor Point’ respectively.

Best Drama Serial award went to ‘Bachelor Point’ directed by Kajal Arefin Ome and produced by Dhrubo TV, while the best single-episode drama award title was won by ‘Apa’ produced by Black and White. The best director award for the Television Drama went to Kajal Arefin Ome.

In the Critics’ Choice Award section, Chanchal Chowdhury won the best actor award for ‘Chuti’.

In the music category, the best singer (Male and Female) award went to Tanjib Sarwar and Fatima Tuz Zahra Oyshee for the songs ‘Dube Dube’ and ‘Megher Bari’ respectively.

The best lyricist title went to Rakib Hasan Rahul for the song ‘Sundar Manush’ and Best folk singer award went to Parvez Sazzad for the song ‘Nokhotro’. The Best Band award was won by the band ‘AvoidRafa.’
