Noted musician Sanjeeb Choudhury’s lyrics-poetry collection titled ‘Ami Tomakei Bole Debo’, compiled and edited by Joy Shahrier, was unveiled on Saturday at Sanjeeb Utshob in the capital’s Dhaka University TSC area.
In this book, all the lyrics poems of Sanjeeb Choudhury have been compiled.
The book is published by the publication ‘Ajob Prokash’.
Every year, Sanjeeb Utshob is organised on the birth anniversary of Sanjeeb Choudhury at ‘Sanjeeb Chattar’ in TSC of Dhaka University. The Sanjeeb Utshob Celebration Board has been organising the festival at the Dhaka University every year since 2010.
Bands like Shubhajatra, Subconscious Bay of Bengal, Durgo, Introit and Band Biscuits and single artistes Joy Shahriar, Shahos Mostafiz, Lalon Mahmud, Shurid Swagato performed at the programme.
The main organiser of the event, Joy, said that Dhaka University Cultural Society, Dhaka University Band Society, and Ajab Karkhana cooperated in organising ‘Sanjeev Utsab 2021’.
“Every year, we organise this programme to commemorate the memories of Sanjeeb Choudhury and to spread his songs among the youth,” he said.
Sanjeeb Choudhury was one of the founding members of the renowned band ‘Dolchhut’, which was formed in 1996. During his academic years, Sanjeeb got involved in politics. He was always vocal about fascism.
During the Ershad government in the 1990s, Sanjeeb was constantly at the forefront of public processions. He donated his body to the Dhaka Medical College Anatomy Department for research.
Sanjeeb is known for his songs like ‘Ami Tomakei Bole Dibo’, ‘Amake Ondho Kore Diyechilo Chad’, ‘Gari Cholena’, ‘ Bioscope’ , ‘Somudrosontan’ , ‘Tomar Vaj Kholo’.
He died of a bilateral cerebral ischemic stroke on November 19, 2006.
