Manoj Bajpayee likely to star opposite Jaya Ahsan

Celebrated Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan, who is equally popular in Kolkata’s film industry, is likely to star opposite ‘Family Man’ famed Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee in the Indian web series ‘Shada Ami, Kalo Ami’ directed by Sayantan Mukherjee.

Director Sayantan Mukherjee made the disclosure to Anandabazar Patrika about casting Jaya and Manoj in the lead roles of his web series.

The web series will explore the events leading up to the 1967 Naxalbari revolution in West Bengal. The two important characters of this series are the leader of Naxalite movement, Charu Majumdar and his wife Leela Majumdar.

Not only Jaya, Chanchal Chowdhury from Bangladesh will be seen in the role of Kanu Sanyal, one of Charu’s companions, though it is not finalised as yet.

“I am still in talks with them. I can’t give you confirmation about that role. As this is an Indian project, there are a lot of other things connected with it. Once the deal is finalised, I will disclose the details,” Chanchal said regarding the casting.

Chanchal Chowdhury had earlier worked in the film ‘Moner Manush’ directed by Gautam Ghosh, Zee5’s web series ‘Contract’ and ‘Ladies & Gentleman’ and Hoichoi original web series ‘Taqdeer’ and ‘Boli.’

The political web series will be based on the novel ‘Sada Ami Kalo Ami’ written by the controversial police officer Runu Guha Niyogi.

Manoj Bajpeyi and Jaya Ahsan are set to play the roles of Charu Majumdar and his wife Leela Majumdar respectively.

According to the media, the series will be presented in three episodes as per the initial plan. The first episode will be from 1948-1972, while the second episode will be from 1982-1990, and the last episode will have the current context from 1990.

The web series will be shot in Kolkata, Mumbai, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh as well as China and Russia. The series is now in pre-production. The web series will be in Hindi, Bangla and English dubbing. The series is expected to start its shooting after Puja, according to the director.
