Even a pandemic cannot stop wedding bells from ringing. Love made its way into the hearts of some celebrity couples during the pandemic, and they got hitched in 2021.
Following the cancellation one wedding after another due to the lockdown in 2020, things began to brighten up for celebrity marriages in 2021 as restrictions were loosened, the size of gatherings grew, and the Covid-19 vaccine became accessible.
Here are some of the stars who have tied the knot so far in 2021.
Bidya Sinha Saha Mim
Popular model and actress Bidya Sinha Saha Mim announced her engagement on November 10, which was also her birthday. She got engaged to her long-time fiancé, Soni Podder, in an intimate ceremony at the hotel Intercontinental Dhaka.
The actress has announced the good news on her official Facebook fan page with pictures of the ceremony.
“All of my smiles started with you 6 years back. Today is a very special day, today is the beginning of forever. A beginning of a new chapter. Finally Engaged,” she captioned the pics.
Habib Wahid
Habib Wahid, who is among the country’s most popular singers and music composers, married Afsana Chowdhury Shifa on 12 January. Shifa is a Bangladeshi model. This is the third marriage of the singer.
Habib got married for the first time in 2003 to Lubayna, but parted ways after a couple of months. He then got married to Rehan Chowdhury in 2011 and together they have a son, Alim (born in 2012). The couple filed for a divorce in 2017.
Sajia Sultana Putul
‘Close-Up 1’ famed singer Putul ties the knot with Syed Reza Ali, a banker and music composer settled in Australia, on April 13.
Putul had married to Canadian expatriate Nurul Islam on March 20, 2019. In March this year, Putul said their marriage has ended with a divorce. Sharing a picture of her second marriage on Facebook, Putul wrote, “Married life is easy – those who say this are immature or senseless.
“We can try to simplify the marital life with difficult equations on our own. The rest is the grace of the creator. If life were not quaint and dramatic, there would be no reason for us to be united in today’s unplanned day.”
Ziaul Faruq Apurba
Popular small-screen actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba tied the knot with American-Bangladeshi Shamma Dewan through a small family program. Last year, Apurba and Nazia Hasan Audity got divorced after 9 years of their togetherness.
Nazia Hasan Audity wrote about the divorce on her Facebook page on March 17, 2020. Apurba and Audity have a son named Ayyash.
Nazmun Munira Nancy
In the last week of August this year, singer Nazmun Munira Nancy started a new chapter in her life by getting married for the third time. Nancy ties the knot with lyricist Mohsin Mehedi through a gorgeous wedding reception.
Nancy had previously married Nazimuzzaman Zayed on March 4, 2013. Earlier, in 2006, she married businessman Abu Saeed Saurabh. They separated on May 24, 2012.
Mahiya Mahi
Dhallywood actress Mahiya Mahi married businessman and politician Rakib Sarker on September 13. Despite initially denying the love-marriage, Mahi posted her wedding photo and wrote, “Everything that spread earlier was, in fact, a rumor. Everyone will pray for us and that is the only wish.”
