Jannatul Ferdous Oishee is one of the few actors who have debuted in Dhallywood in 2021. As all are set to bid farewell to the outgoing year, her latest film ‘Raat Jaga Phool’ is releasing today, marking the last day of 2021 and also to welcome 2022.
In a conversation with The Business Post, the 2018 Miss World Bangladesh crown-holder Oishee talked about her debut in ‘Mission Extreme’, what she came across this year, her latest release and expectations.
There were discussions after the release of ‘Mission Extreme’ in early December that the debutant got lesser screentime. Oishee, however, has defended the length of her role in the action-thriller saying, “I am not regretting it. It’s enough for me that people have appreciated my role. The duration of my character was according to the story. My latest film is releasing today. More films will come in the future. The audience will get to see me again”.
“I don’t pick any project by the duration of my appearance. I choose it by my character and the story,” she added.
“The audience will get to see me in ‘Raat Jaga Phool’ as much as its story demanded. And I believe, they will love it,” said the actress.
“You can say that ‘Mission Extreme’ has raised my expectations. The movie is doing very well. It was definitely a good starting for me. The month of December began with me (with the release of ‘Mission Extreme’) and is also coming to an end with me. As I have a good starting, I am expecting the end of this month and also this year with a good vibe. From that aspect, I want ‘Raat Jaga Phool’ to score very well. ‘Mission Extreme’ is a full-fledged action cinema, and ‘Raat Jaga Phool’ will be a refreshing story after it, I believe. My expectation from this film is very high as well.”
“As it’s the first film directed by Mir Sabbir and I am sure that people will discover him in a whole new way, which none could have imagined before,” Oishee elaborated about her latest release that marks the silver screen directorial debut of actor Mir Sabbir.
The actress said the songs of the new film, which are already out on the internet, have brought them a very good response. “For the first time, I have seen something without any negative comment. Since, social media is a garbage-like place where people write as per their whims, we have found no negative remarks (for the songs) there. So, we can say that something very positive is going to happen,” she said.
Talking about the year 2021 that saw her debut in Dhallywood, she said, “I am thankful for everything, good and bad, that I went through this year. At the end of the day, it’s my responsibility to make the ground beneath my feet strong. Let’s see what happens. Let the movies get released”.
Oishee said further, “If the audience accepts me cordially, if the makers say that I am doing well, only then I can say that yes, I have got the ground beneath my feet strong. The time has not come yet to decide on this”.
“Every day I am learning something new. I want people to see my works and point out the mistakes and I will try to correct those. The audiences are the ultimate judge. If the virtuoso artistes and makers in the industry point out my shortcomings, it will be a good help for me, as I have no institutional background in films and I have none (in the industry) to whom I can go for something or any decision. I am on my own indeed,” she added.
