Shakib-Puja’s ‘Galui’ to release during Eid

Makers of the much-talked-about film ‘Galui’ starring Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan and Puja Cherry are gearing for release the film on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

Khorshed Alam Khosru, co-producer of the film told The Business Post that “We have a plan to release the film on Eid-ul-Fitr.

“We will run publicity campaign and songs of the movie will be released gradually before the film’s release,” he said on Friday.

‘Galui’ was rewarded government grants for the fiscal year 2020-21. The film was cleared by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board (BFCB) on December 29 in 2021.

Directed by SA Haque Olike, the film was shot for nearly one and a half months starting from late September in 2021, in mostly Jamalpur and Tangail.

Along with Shakib Khan and Puja Cherry, ‘Galui’ stars Fazlur Rahman Babu, Azizul Hakim, Jhuna Chowdhury and Somu Chowdhury, among others.

Set in rural context against the backdrop of 70s and 80s, the film has already raised expectations among fans ever since it went to the floors. Many behind-the-scene photos from the sets of the film are causing a stir on social media.

In an interview with The Business Post in November 2021, actress Puja Cherry said, “’Galui’ has best elements – strong character, powerful story, an accomplished director and a superstar co-artist. I’m very much hopeful about this film”.

“’Galui’ is a plus point in my career but the rest depends on the audiences. If they watch the film in the theatres.. my career will change in a very positive way,” she further said.

In the film, Shakib Khan will be playing the role of a boatman who falls for ‘Mala’, a young girl from a reputed family whose predecessors were landlords (zaminders).

SA Haque Olike, director of this film is also known for directing films like ‘Hridoyer Katha’, ‘Akash Chhoa Bhalobasha’ and ‘Ek Prithibi Prem’.
