Bangladeshi director Robiul Shikdar’s telefilm ‘CNG Driver’, starring Shilpi Sharkar Apu in the central role, has been officially selected for the Pune Shorts International Film Festival 2021.
The telefilm will be screened under the Short Film category at the festival.
In the story, Shilpi Sharkar Apu will be seen as the lone bread-earner of a family. At one stage, she chose to be a CNG driver in the guise of a man only to earn livelihood for her family.
The telefilm has Shamol Mawla, Misty Jahan, Azam Khan, Hindol Roy, Ansar Ali and Rahim Sumon, among others, in various roles.
Apart from directing, Robiul Shikder has also written the story of ‘CNG Driver’. This telefilm was produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd and aired on Channel i in 2019.
Director Robiul Shikder said, “I received a lot of appreciation when this telefilm was aired on TV before. Shilpi Sharkar Apu’s performance was lauded by all.”
“I feel good that the authorities of
Pune International Shorts Film Festival have selected the film under its short films category,” he said.
However, the 20th edition of the festival is expected to take place in March.
