Qawaali soiree at TSC today

A musical event of Qawaali songs, titled ‘TSC Te Qawaali’, will be held at the Teacher-Student Centre of Dhaka University today to rejoice in the essence of the devotional music.

The show will continue for three and a half hours, at the Payra Chattar of TSC, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm.

Qawaal singer Nadim Ehtesham Reza Khan and his team will perform as the lead performer at the event. It will also have performances by ‘Silsila’, a Qawaali band based on Dhaka University, and Murshidi and Bhandari singer Sheikh Fahim Faisal.

The event ‘TSC Te Qawaali’ is organised by a group of general students of DU.

Anyone can enjoy the show, free of cost, said its organisers.

Qawwali is one of the most powerful music genres in this subcontinent. It has the power to bring peace to the soul and purify the mind. This form of music is very popular among Muslims in India and Pakistan. Though Qawaali is not very popular in the mainstream of Bangladesh, there are many enthusiasts of this spiritual music in Old Dhaka, Mirpur and Mohammadpur in the capital, they added.
