Shilpi Samity, Actors’ Equity polls today

Chalachchitra Shilpi Samity, the platform for film artistes, and Actors’ Equity Bangladesh, an organization of television actors, are all set to go to into polls today.

Two panels are vying In the Chalachchitra Shilpi Samity election – one led by Misha Sawdagor and Zayed Khan, who have been in charge for the past two years, and the other is led by Elias Kanchan and Nipun.

From the Misha-Zayed panel, Misha Sawdagor is contesting for the president while Zayed Khan is contesting for the general secretary position. Monwar Hossain Dipzal and Rubel will be vying for vice president positions.

Candidates for the executive members from this panel are – Moushumi, Sucharita, Rosina, Anjana, Bapparaj, Aliraj, Nader Khan, Hasan Jahangir and Asif Iqbal.

From the Elias Kanchan-Nipun Panel, Elias Kanchan is contesting for president while Nipun is for the general secretary position. Riaz Ahmed and DA Tayeb are vying for the vice president position.

Candidates for executive members from this panel are: Nana Shah, Afzal Sharif, Amit Hasan, Jasmine, Keya, Pori Moni, Gangua, Simanta, Ferdous, Shakil Khan and Amit Hasan.

Pirjada Harun will act as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Shilpi Samity election.

As the Actors’ Equity election is not panel centric, all the candidates are contesting in this election as independent candidates.

Ahsan Habib Nasim and Shahadat Hossain Nipu are contesting for the post of President in the Actors’ Equity election. Besides, five artistes Dilu Mazumder, Tania Ahmed, Anisur Rahman Milon, Selim Mahbub and Iqbal Babu are vying for three posts of vice president in this election.

Urmila Srabanti Kar and Raunak Bishakha Shyamoli are contesting for the post of law and welfare secretary.

The voting of the shilpi samity polls to be hald at the FDC from 9:00am to 5:00pm and the voters of the actors equity polls will cast their ballots at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at the same time , without any break.

The 20 candidates for the executive member position in Actors’ Equity election are: Abul Kalam Azad, Ashraf Kabir, Ainun Nahar Putul, Ashraful Alam Khan, AAM Golam Kibria (Tanvir), Khaled Ahmed Salehin (Rajib Salehin), Nurun Nahar Begum, Maryam Sarkar (Mishti Maria), Masud Alam Tanvir (Tanvir Masud), Mizanur Rahman (Majnun Mizan), Md Abdul Hannan Akhand, Md Aminul Bari (Ejaz Bari), Moushumi Hamid, Rezaul Karim Sarkar (Rezaul Raju), Shams Sumon, Shyamol Zakaria, Shoron Kumar Saha, Sangeeta Chowdhury, Shuchona Shikdar, Hafizur Rahman (Hime Hafiz).

This year’s chief election commissioner of the Actors’ Equity election will be actor Khairul Alam Sabuj, while the appeal board will be led by Mamunur Rashid.
