Emon returns to shooting after winning polls

Dhallywood actor Mamnun Emon has returned to movie filming after securing victory at the much-hyped Bangladesh Chalachhitra Shilpi Samity elections from Ilias-Nipun panel for the 2022-24 term.

The actor resumed the last schedule shooting for the Zulfikar Zahedi directed upcoming film ‘Kagoj, The Paper’ in Barishal from Sunday.

In a conversation with The Business Post on Monday, the newly elected secretary for sports and cultural affairs at the film artistes’ association Emon shared his future goals.

“Those who are artistes, those who are voters, they have elected me over other contestants. If my full panel could have won, I would get a full force. Those who have come to the new committee are my brothers as well. We are the same,” he said.

The actor added, “From my side, I want to put my best efforts to work for them from the post I have been elected for. Besides shooting, I will look into their well-being throughout the year. I want to give them the honour for which they have elected me”.

Emon, who bagged 203 votes to beat Jakir Hossain (136 votes) in the election, further said that he aspires to play his role very efficiently as the sports and cultural affairs secretary at Shilpi Samity. “I believe I will execute work. The oath-taking is yet to be done. Afterwards, I will try my level best to put my contribution from my post of sports and cultural secretary. I didn’t contest in the polls to win it, I contested it to execute work,” he said.

Emon added, “The battle was very tough this time. I would go to the polls campaign programmes every day, attended the meetings and returned home late at night. Overall, I underwent hard labour. Still, I am very tired. But I have won the polls and I am happy for that”.

The actor who served as the international affairs secretary at the Shilpi Samity in its outgoing term, will be seen essaying the role of a writer in the upcoming romantic-action-thriller ‘Kagoj’ co-starring with Airin Sultana.

“We earlier shoot the film in Syedpur, Rajshahi and Manikganj, Dhaka. Now we are shooting for the last schedule on a launch in Barishal. I will complete the shoot within a day,” Emon informed The Business Post on Monday.
