Puja signs for romantic film ‘Nakphul’

Dhallywood actor Puja Cherry signed up for a romantic film titled ‘Nakphul’ directed by Alok Hasan on Wednesday. She will star alongside actor Ziaul Roshan in the film.

The signing ceremony was held at RTV head office in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area. The director of the film has confirmed the news to The Business Post.

“In this modern era, we became so digitalised that we have lost our touch with our roots. As it is my debut film, I wanted to connect with my culture, origin and root people of the country through my film. I don’t know how much I can connect, but my intention is to represent the lost culture of my country and to go back to my roots,” he said.

“I named this film ‘Nakphul’ because it will be a vital part of the film. Basically, the film is a tragic- romantic one. But it is not like the usual romantic film. The story is different and will be shot in a rural setting,” he added.

“A lot of good films have been released this year. So, I think the competition is high. I will try my best to match the level. I just hope the audience will love my debut film,” he added.

Puja said, “Nakphul is a classic symbol of love. Through this film, we will try to portray romance and the pain of love. I can’t disclose any more details about my character but I can say that the story of this film is very beautiful and engaging. It will be very romantic. I have worked with Roshan before. I am hopeful that the audience will love our chemistry.”

The story of the film is written by Ferari Forhad. The film is produced by Bengal Multimedia Ltd.

The film also stars Lutfur Rahman George, Ali Raj and LR Shimanto among many others.

The shooting of the film will start in the middle of March and is expected to release on Eid-ul-Fitr.
