Farin: I want to play antagonist

Small screen actress Tasnia Farin made her television debut with the drama titled ‘Amra Firbo Kobe’. Eventually, she rose to fame with the drama ‘Ex-Boyfriend’ in 2018. She has won the hearts of the audience with her effortless acting in the web series ‘Ladies and Gentleman’ directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and ‘Networker Baire’ directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan. She has acted in more than a hundred dramas and telefilms. In a candid conversation with The Business Post’s Antara Raisa she shared her recent ventures and career plans.

You made your TV debut with ‘Amra Firbo Kobe’. Tell us your story of coming to the entertainment industry?

I came to the entertainment industry just because of my mother. She wanted me to be an actress. When I came to the industry, I never thought that I could come this far. I thank my mother for whatever I have become today.

What type of stories or characters do you want to do in future?

I want to do more story-based projects where I can challenge myself, can explore my capabilities. I want to do characters that I have never done before. I want to play the antagonist. I have never done that.

Are you planning for acting on the big screen?

If I get a character that I like and the story is good, then I will definitely do it. I want to play all types of characters. I don’t want to limit myself.

In the web film ‘Tithir Oshukh’, many people found your character similar to Jaya Ahsan’s in the film ‘Debi’ and you copied her. What’s your reaction to that?

I played what the character and the story demanded. Both of these are psychological thriller films. That’s why there were similarities between our characters. I didn’t copy her. I admire Jaya Ahsan a lot. She is a brilliant actress. I just did, what my story demanded in the web-film.

You’ve posted your singing covers on your social media handles. Do you have further plans for singing? 

I sing out of my passion. I am thinking of releasing my covers. But, I think I won’t do it professionally in future.

What are your current projects?

Currently, I am shooting for a web series. I have 5 or 6 dramas and telefilms for the upcoming Valentine’s Day.
