‘No Land’s Man’ grabs Prix du Public award at Vesoul

Internationally famed Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s upcoming film ‘No Land’s Man’ has won Prix du Public (fiction film audience) award at the 28th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France on Tuesday.

Farooki shared the news on his Facebook account and wrote, “No Land’s Man has been my most special! Tonight, this special film won Prix du Public at the Vesoul film festival. This award is for my big fat team from three continents! Love you all! Can’t wait for the audience to see the film. Hopefully soon!”

Farooki also shared his experience of the screening session in the festival and wrote, “What happened yesterday in Vesoul, is a whole new experience for me. I missed the first show of the No Land’s Man yesterday. So, I joined the second show of the film to participate in the Q&A session. I saw three old men standing at the door of the hall. Volunteers came and told me that the three of them had seen my film yesterday and they were very moved by my film. But they didn’t find me yesterday. But later when they found out that I would be in today’s Q&A session, they came to join today’s show from far away just to participate in Q&A session and appreciate me.”

“I am a very young man, a much younger filmmaker. When I get love like this, I tend to become emotional. Tomorrow’s show and the whole Q&A session at the end of the show will be a memorable night for me. I still have a wild urge to make films for these small gestures of love,” he added.

The eighth feature film of Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and second of his ‘identity series’ (first one is being ‘Saturday Afternoon’), the much anticipated ‘No Land’s Man’ has already created buzz for casting the star of critically commercially successful movie ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

‘No Land’s Man’ also stars Australian actor Megan Mitchell and Bangladeshi singer-actor Tahsan Khan in the leading roles.

The film revolves around a Bangladeshi man named Naveen whose life gets tragic and strangely funny when he meets an Australian girl in the US.

“The film actually mocks the strange idea of identity that we have created around the world and the madness that surrounds this conflict,” Farooki told in an interview. The 28th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema began on February 2 and concluded on February 8.
