Mehazabien Chowdhury first came to the limelight after clinching the Lux-Channel i Superstar title in 2009. Although the entertainment seekers pointed the finger at her accent, she was steadfast in her goal. Recently, she has stepped into the OTT platform with web film “Redrum” which was released on Chorki recently. The web film has already garnered positive reviews. In a candid conversation with The Business Post’s Antara Raisa, the drama star has opened up about the experience of “Redrum” and her career.
Your debut web film “Redrum” has released on Chorki recently. How are the responses from the audience?
My fans have loved the web film. The responses are really good. I am grateful that they loved our film.
Tell us about your character “Neela” in the film.
Neela was a very dynamic and bold character. She has many shades of her personality and can go any extent for the people she loves. It may seems like she is a simple girl but eventually people will discover that she is a complex yet beautiful character. I don’t know how perfectly I have portrayed the character. But I tried my best.
How was your shooting experience?
The entire shooting team was very organized and experienced. They were very helpful and hardworking too. I have worked with Vickey Zahed before and he’s always been one of my favourites. Whenever he directs any drama or film, he always sticks to the script. Therefore, no story or scene gets skipped unintentionally. So the shoot becomes a lot easier. I always say that their team is very dedicated and involving. So, overall I can say it was a good experience.
As this your debut in the OTT platform, why did you choose this story to be your debut project?
Personally, I have always liked thriller genre. I really like to watch thriller films and dramas. The types of films, where people really get involve with the story and character, attract me. When I first heard the story, I thought this is a murder mystery, so people will watch till the end to know who the murderer is. The character arc of Neela was compelling too. That’s why I chose this drama.
Recently you have completed 12 years in the media industry. How was the journey?
I always think I got more than I deserve. People always loved me and made me feel like home here. My colleagues have helped me in the process. My fans gave me a lot of love and appreciation. The whole journey was really enjoyable.
The most challenging part of this journey was when I first stepped into the media industry. I didn’t know anyone from the industry before that. So choosing the right work and reading scripts was challenging for me. But I am very lucky that my colleagues really helped me and didn’t make me feel like an outsider. They embraced me as I am and helped me grow. I am very grateful to them.
What are your recent ventures?
I haven’t thought of anything right now. I just want to focus on the good stories in future and challenge myself everyday.
