Besides renewing the hit-series ‘Stranger Things’ for a fifth and final season, Netflix announced today that Season 4 will be split into two volumes. The news was disclosed in a letter from the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, reports Collider.
In their letter, the Duffer Brothers underline how Season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ was the most challenging chapter in the popular story about a group of children fighting evil corporations and interdimensional monsters. With “nine scripts, over eight hundred pages, almost two years of filming,” Season 4 took longer to complete than any previous season of Stranger Things, and the reason for that is that the Duffer Brothers are working on the series endgame and bringing the story to an end. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the sci-fi horror series centers on the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s as it comes under attack from a variety of supernatural threats due to shady government experiments conducted in the area.
‘Stranger Things’ primarily revolves around Mike Wheeler and his friends as they meet the psychokinetic-powered Eleven, who has escaped from a laboratory, and grow closer to one another while also dealing with the dark entities involving the alternate dimension known as the Upside Down.
Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown lead the cast of ‘Stranger Things’ alongside Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Dacre Montgomery and Maya Hawke. Since its premiere, the series has been a major hit for Netflix, scoring rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its characters, genre atmosphere, soundtrack and ‘80s nostalgia, bringing in 39 Emmy nominations and six wins and breaking numerous viewership records for the streaming platform. Netflix renewed ‘Stranger Things’ for season 4 back in late 2019, though a variety of factors have kept audiences waiting for the next chapter, though the wait is nearly over.
After waiting for nearly three years, Netflix has exciting news for audiences as the ‘Stranger Things’ season 4 release date has officially been confirmed to be May 27. The streamer has also revealed that the new season of the show will be split up into two volumes, with the second half of episodes being released five weeks later on July 1.
