George RR Martin has confirmed that HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series, ‘House of the Dragon’, has wrapped filming in London. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, began in 1996, reports Screen Rant .
Despite HBO’s game-changing adaptation, ‘Game of Thrones’, ending in 2019, fans continue to anticipate the novelist’s final two books, ‘The Winds of Winter’ and ‘A Dream of Spring’.
That being said, both the author and the network are hardly done with Westeros.
Several ‘Game of Thrones’ prequels have been announced and are in development at HBO. These shows include the working-titled ‘Tales of Dunk and Egg’, 9 Voyages, ‘Flea Bottom’, and ‘10,000 ships’. The most talked-about spinoff is this year’s ‘House of the Dragon’, which is loosely based on Martin’s ‘Fire & Blood’, detailing the history of the Targaryen dynasty.
Season 1 of the upcoming series will consist of 10 episodes, taking place around 200 years before Game of Thrones, and will follow the Targaryens during a civil war known as the “Dance of Dragons.” It stars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Milly Alcock, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Constantine, and Sonoya Mizuno.
