Nodi Rocks: 7 bands feature 7 songs on 7 rivers

Seven bands of the country have come together to work on a project titled ‘Nodi Rocks’, where they would feature seven rivers in seven songs. The music video of each song would be made on the respective river.

The unique initiative was taken by Chirkutt band founder Sharmin Sultana Sumi’s agency Salt Creatives and Events Limited, which would be jointly financed by the Switzerland Embassy in Bangladesh and Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF). The project was inaugurated through a virtual event on February 22.

For the first time in the country, the ‘Nodi Rocks’ project has been taken up to unite rivers and music with the motto — ‘Jalobayu Bachate Cholo Nodir Kacche Jai’, Sharmin Sultana Sumi said during the event.

The people involved with the project hope that eventually, there will be a song for each river in the country, so that awareness for preserving the climate and rivers would grow, especially among the young generation, she added.

For the first season of the project, sever popular bands would make songs on seven rivers — Padma, Kushiyara, Sangu, Chitra, Pashur, Dahuk,

and Buriganga, Sharmin Sultana Sumi informed. Later, there are plans to hold various creative events including a Nodi Rocks Mega Concert, she added.

Members of seven bands — Ark, Cryptic Fate, Arbovirus, Chirkutt, Bangla 5, F minor, and Smooches — were present at the virtual event.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Junaid Ahmed Palak, Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh Ambassador Nathalie Chuard, Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Md Atiqul Islam, UNDP Bangladesh Resident Representative Sudipto Mukerjee, Square group Director Anjan Chowdhury, Manusher Jonno Foundation Executive Director Shaheen Anam, Friendship Founder and Executive Director Runa Khan were also present at the event.
