Gangubai expects to surpass Rs 38 crores in weekend

Alia Bhatt’s biographical crime drama film about the mafia don Gangubai Kathiawadi collected Rs 23.82 crore (27.08 core Taka) in just two days after release. The film grabbed a massive audience attention from the very beginning. Gangubai was released on 25th February and witnesses super growth in just two days.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada production now expects the weekend should easily surpass Rs. 38 crores. Anything more would be a bonus for the film, but it will suffice because the budget requires that the figures keep coming at least through the second week. Based on current patterns, Gangubai Kathiawadi’s recovery appears to be a foregone conclusion.

The story is loosely based on Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S. Hussain Zaidi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali wrote and directed the film. The film also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Jim Sarbh, Indira Tiwari, and Seema Pahwa. Ajay Devgn makes a cameo appearance in the film. Alia’s first collaboration with Bhansali is this film.

Appaulauding the film’s decent opening, Taran had tweeted on Saturday, “To all the naysayers who had dismissed and written off #Bollywood — even said that #Bollywood has lost its shine and glory — the superb start of #GangubaiKathiawadi brings #Bollywood back in the limelight… Now await the forthcoming films.”

After the film was released in theaters to tremendous reviews from critics and Bollywood celebs. Gangubai Kathiawadi is earning rave reviews, with the actor’s performance being praised in particular. The film is even being called a master piece by many. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vicky Kaushal, Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan, Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni appeared blown away by Alia’s performance. Alia is now receiving appreciation for her brilliant performance by everyone.
