Nazrul Utsab 2022 from March 11

Marking the golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence, a two-day Nazrul festival (Nazrul Utsab) has been organised at Gulshan Society Lake Park on March 11 and 12.

Supported by Gulshan Society, Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha and Arun Ranjani have jointly organised the two-day festival.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Thursday.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will inaugurate the festival, while Education Minister Dipu Moni will be present as the chief guest on the second day of the festival.

Eminent cultural personalities Asaduzzaman Noor, Liberation War Museum Trustee Dr Sarwar Ali, President of Gulshan Society ATM Shamsul Huda, Founder Trustee of the Liberation War Museum Mofidul Hoque, poet Muhammad Nurul Huda, Acting President of Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha, Khilkhil Kazi, granddaughter of Kazi Nazrul Islam will be present as distinguished guests at the two-day festival.

125 less popular Nazrul Sangeet performed by the artistes of Bangladesh and West Bengal will be unveiled at the festival.

Speaking at the press conference, Khairul Anam Shakil, convener of the festival, said that hundreds of famous and emerging artistes from Bangladesh and India would perform music, recitations and dances at the festival. Indian artists Srikanta Acharya, Sreeradha Bandyopadhyay, Manomay Bhattacharya, Jayati Chatterjee and Sushmita Goswami will perform at the two-day festival. Among the Bangladeshi artistes Shaheen Samad, Yaqub Ali Khan, Khairul Anam Shakil, Ferdous Ara, Salahuddin Ahmed, Nasheed Kamal, Yasmeen Mushtari, Priyanka Gope will perform.

Asaduzzaman Noor and Dahlia Ahmed will recite poems of Kazi Nazrul Islam at the festival, while Sharmila Bandyopadhyay will perform dances.

Khairul Anam Shakil said, “Nazrul’s philosophy of life will spread all over the country if the two neighbuoring countries work together.”

He also said that through this effort it will be possible to build a strong platform.

The festival will continue every day from 5:30 pm to 10pm.
