After the verdict of the High Court, Zayed Khan finally took the oath as general secretary after 35 days of the election to the Bangladesh Film Artists Association (BFAA).

Other office bearers elected from Zayed’s panel – Monowar Hossain Dipjol, Sucharita, Aruna Biswas and Joy Chowdhury also took the oath on the day.

The association president Ilias Kanchan administered the oath at the BFDC on Friday evening.

“As the court has dismissed the case after declaring me the legal general secretary of this association, thus I’m taking the oath. After this, we will proceed with our work,” said Zayed before taking the oath.

Before administering the oath, Ilias Kanchan told the media, “We will continue our activities in accordance with the constitution of the Film Artistes’ Association. There is no chance to break the constitution. There were complications with the post of general secretary. Zayed Khan showed me a certified copy of the court’s verdict, so now we can move with further procedure.”

Zayed Khan later officially welcomed all other elected office bearers with flower bouquets.

Eleven members of the committee took their oath on February 6. The winners from Misha-Zayed panel did not want to take the oath without Zayed Khan. But, Anjana took oath from their panel as an exception.

Despite claiming that there was no system for taking oath in the constitution of the Shilpi Samiti, Zayed Khan took the oath.

Zayed said, “Basically, President Ilias Kanchan called the first meeting of the association. We have taken the oath as a mark of respect to him.”

However, Mousumi, Rubel, Ali Raj, Rozina and Chunnu, the winning members of Misha-Zayed panel, are yet to take the oath.
