Turongomi, a repertory dance theatre, will stage three shows of its documentary dance-drama ‘Odommo’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the capital on March 14.

‘Odommo’ is the first-ever documentary dance-drama in Bangladesh that portrays the life, political journey, and philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the organisers said.

The concept, script, choreography, and direction of the production were done by Pooja Sengupta.

The first show will be staged at 7:00pm, while the second show at 7:45pm and the last show at 8:30pm.

The performance is a metaphoric representation of Bangobondhu’s indomitable personality and political journey using neo-classical, contemporary and creative movements and theatrical techniques.

Designed on a chessboard, this production portrays Bangabandhu as an indomitable being, who was determined to build an independent Bangladesh based on language and culture.

It was also one of the most expensive productions at the Mujib Year inaugural ceremony held at the National Parade Ground. Pooja Sengupta portrayed the character of Bangabandhu in that show.
