DC moves ‘Aquaman 2’ release date

DC and Warner Bros. announced a slew of delays for multiple films today, including Aquaman 2, The Flash, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam, and more, reports Hollywood Reporter.

Aquaman 2’s release has been moved back to March 17, 2023 from December 16, 2022, a spot that has now been allocated to Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was supposed to run on June 2, 2022.

DC League of Super-Pets, starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, has also been moved up to July 29, 2022, while Johnson’s other Warner Bros project, Black Adam, has been given an October 21, 2022 date.

Johnson had previously taken to his Instagram to announce the shift, but had not provided a specific date.

Ezra Miller’s The Flash, which will also be starring Ron Livingston, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon and Michael Keaton, was moved up over six months, taking a June 23, 2023 slot.

Other Warner Bros projects that have had a change in their release date include Meg 2: The Trench and the hotly-anticipated Willy Wonka prequel, Wonka, which was given a December 15, 2023 release date.

Wonka will follow Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka in the origin story of the man behind the infamous chocolate factory.

The announcement comes a few hours after Dwayne Johnson revealed on Instagram that two of his films would move. Warner Bros. and New Line’s Black Adam is moving to Oct. 21 of this year, back from its original date of July 29. Johnson noted in a message to fans that the film will open just before Halloween and play through the holiday season.
