27th staging of ‘12 Angry Men’ today

Open Space Theatre will stage the 27th show of their debut play ‘12 Angry Men’ – a cult classic courtroom drama, today evening at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The play is directed by M Arifur Rahman.

The play is an adaptation of the 1957 American courtroom drama film 12 Angry Men directed by Sidney Lumet, which was adapted from a 1954 teleplay of the same name by Reginald Rose.

A 12-member jury is sent to begin deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of an 18-year-old man accused of the stabbing death of his father, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. The play explores many techniques of consensus-building and the difficulties encountered in the process, among a group of men whose range of personalities adds intensity and conflict.
