AR Rahman to rock Mirpur on March 29

Oscar-winning Indian musician AR Rahman will perform at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on March 29 as part of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

AR Rahman is coming to Bangladesh after eight years to perform in this mega event.

BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the news. He also said the board has requested time from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend the event. This concert was supposed to be held along with the two T20 matches of ‘Mujib Hundred Cup’ between Asia XI and World XI in March 2020. But the pandemic situation forced the board to postpone the event in 2020.

But for now, the BCB has decided to hold only the concert. The concert will feature several leading musicians of Bangladesh alongside AR Rahman.

“We still have the plan to host two T20 matches and we will do it whenever we get the opportunity,” said BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury. The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is set to begin in Mirpur on March 15. The matches of the last two rounds of the league will be shifted to the ULAB ground at Beribadh Road in Mohammadpur.
